• Grand Prize Winner out of 7,000 entrants in the “America’s Next Great Designer” Award, sponsored by the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.), New York. Judges included Calvin Klein and Bill Blass
• Winner of the Sam Cantey Grand Prize at the Fort Worth Mayfest Festival
• Presented by the MUARDA Society of Fort Worth as the Outstanding Artist of the Year
• Award winner in the International Surface Design Competition sponsored by the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas
• Double award winner in the Riegel Textile Corporation, N.Y., “Americana” Textile Design Competition, commemorating the U.S.A. Bicentennial
1975:
• Awarded the Champlin Petroleum Grand Prize at the Fort Worth Mayfest Festival
1973-74:
• Awarded a Full Scholarship and Teaching Assistantship at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth

1995-Present:
• Owner of Julienne Ballantyne, D.A., M.F.A., Custom Rugs. Working with architects and designers to create hand tufted, custom designed area rugs for commercial and residential installations. Clients include Mary Kay Corporation, Carol Hermanovski Design, David Schwartz Architects, and The Courthouse in Center, Texas
1987-1994:
• Co-founder and Director of Design, Human Arts. Manufacturer of handmade, custom designed rugs. Human Arts was developed from the ground up and had representation servicing the architectural and design communities in most major U.S. cities. With its collective focus on excellence of design and product quality, Human Arts gained a reputation as an innovative design firm in the marketplace, serving corporate, residential and aircraft industry clientele, including Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (HOK), Prince Faisal, Eli Lilly Corp., Aetna Corp., Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Sumitomo Corp. On site consultation required extensive travel.
1992 & 90:
• Lectures and workshops at Glasgow School of Art on the design and technical aspects of the custom rug industry.
1980-87:
• Art Director and Designer at Kalogridis International, Custom Rugs and Tapestries, Dallas, Texas. In charge of all design aspects of a multimillion dollar rug company, including working directly with clients, coordination and scheduling of production, development and supervision of technique and interpretation of designs and supervision of quality control. Clients include Trisha Wilson, Assoc., Dallas, The Cannon Corp., Southland Corp., King Hussein of Jordan and HOK.
1979:
• Guest designer at North Texas State University, critiqued and selected students’ work for the annual fashion show.
1977-79:
• Assistant Designer to Victor Costa at Victor Costa, Inc., Dallas, Texas. In charge of the running and organization of a 12-person Design Room. Responsibilities included preparation for market five times a year, organization of fashion shows, extensive artwork, including fashion illustration and all company advertising, fabric selection and purchasing.
